About this app

Send the time your agents already track in Zendesk to Harvest, Toggl Track or Clockify, against the right client, project and task, ready to invoice. Meterwell works with Zendesk's own Time Tracking app: it reads the time agents submit on each ticket and turns it into timesheet entries, one per agent and day, and never sends the same minutes twice.

Meterwell is built by Great Work LLC. It is not made or endorsed by Zendesk, Harvest, Toggl or Clockify. Harvest, Toggl Track and Clockify are trademarks of their owners.

Time goes out by itself

  • On solve, on every save, or only when someone clicks Send. Your admin picks.
  • One entry per agent and day, with the ticket number, the subject (your admin can turn it off) and a link back to the ticket.
  • Each agent's own timesheet. Agents are matched to their Harvest or Clockify users by email or a mapping.

The right client, project and task

  • Map each Zendesk organization to a client project. Every ticket from that organization follows it.
  • Task rules by ticket type, group, form or tag.
  • Billable rules by tag, organization or ticket type.
  • Override per ticket, and round up to the next 6 or 15 minutes if that is how you bill.

See and fix what was sent

  • The sidebar lists every entry Meterwell made for the ticket. Edit or delete one from the ticket. Entries your tool has locked (approved or invoiced) stay read-only.
  • Corrections follow. If an agent takes time off in Time Tracking after it was sent, Meterwell offers to apply it to their entry.

Built not to double bill

  • Each entry carries a marker. Before sending, Meterwell checks your tool for it; if a reply gets lost, it checks again instead of sending again.

No Time Tracking on your plan?

On plans without Zendesk's Time Tracking app, agents enter time in the Meterwell sidebar (or run a simple stopwatch while the ticket is open) and send it the same way.

What it doesn't do

  • No background sync. Time goes out when an agent saves, solves or clicks Send in that ticket.
  • No bulk export or backfill of past tickets.
  • Toggl Track entries are made as the token's user (Toggl has no way to post for teammates); the agent's name goes in the description.

Plans (billed monthly by Zendesk)

  • Team: $100 per month for Zendesk accounts with up to 12 agents and admins.
  • Scale: $9 per agent per month for 13 or more agents and admins.

Every feature and all three tools are on both plans. 14-day trial; Zendesk asks for a card at install and billing starts when the trial ends unless you uninstall. No free plan. Your Harvest, Toggl Track or Clockify subscription is separate. If your team outgrows Team, time stays visible and sending pauses until an admin switches the plan.

Your data

Your token is stored as a Zendesk secure setting. It never reaches agents' browsers: Zendesk adds it to each request on the way to your tool, and only to that tool's API. Meterwell reads the ticket you're on (subject, organization, type, group, tags, its changes to Time Tracking's field), the names and emails of the agents whose time it sends, and the organization's project. It sends your tool the duration, date, agent, project, task, billable flag, ticket number and link, and the subject if your admin allows it. What was sent is recorded in a hidden Meterwell ticket field; the organization's project in a Meterwell organization field. Meterwell has no Great Work server, keeps no copy of your data, has no export, sends nothing to Great Work and uses no AI.

Installatie-instructies

  1. Get a token from your time tool, as the person whose account Meterwell will post with. To post time on each agent's own timesheet, use an admin: a Harvest Administrator (or a Manager allowed to edit teammates' time), or a Clockify workspace admin.
    • Harvest: Harvest ID > Developers > Create new personal access token. Copy the token and the Account ID shown with it.
    • Toggl Track: Profile settings > API Token. Copy it, and the workspace id (the number in the address bar of Settings).
    • Clockify: Preferences > Advanced > Manage API keys > Generate new. Copy it, and the workspace id (in the address bar of Workspace settings). Note your data region if it isn't the default (EU, USA, UK or AU).
  2. Install Meterwell from the Zendesk Marketplace and choose a plan: Team ($100 per month, up to 12 agents and admins) or Scale ($9 per agent per month, 13 or more). The 14-day trial starts now; Zendesk asks for a card and starts billing when the trial ends unless you uninstall.
  3. Set Time tool to harvest, toggl or clockify, then fill in that tool's fields:
    • Harvest: paste the token into Harvest personal access token and the Account ID into Harvest account id.
    • Toggl Track: finish the install with the workspace id, open any ticket as an admin and use the Toggl encoder in the Meterwell sidebar: paste your API token there and copy the value it shows into Toggl Track API token (encoded). The encoder runs in your browser only.
    • Clockify: paste the key into Clockify API key, the workspace id into Clockify workspace id, and set Clockify region (global, euc1, use2, euw2 or apse2).Tokens are stored as Zendesk secure settings: agents never see them and Zendesk only sends them to your tool's API.
  4. Choose Send time: solve (the default: when an agent solves the ticket), update (every time an agent saves it) or manual (only with the Send button).
  5. Optional: a Default project for tickets whose organization has no project (a project id, or project id/task id); Task rules, one per line, like type:incident = 8083365, group:360001234567 = 8083366 or default = 8083365 (Harvest also takes nonbillable = <task id> for non-billable time); Billable rules, like default = billable and tag:warranty = non-billable; Rounding in minutes; User mapping, one line per agent, like dana@yourcompany.com = 4101, when an agent's email differs between Zendesk and your tool; Who may take actions (agent, admin, custom role ids or group:<id>).
  6. Open an organization and, in the Meterwell sidebar, click Choose a project to map it to a client project. Repeat for each client you bill.
  7. Open a ticket as an admin and click Check the connection: it confirms the token, the workspace, how many projects it sees and whether Zendesk's Time Tracking app was found.

Meterwell creates two fields at install: a ticket field, "Meterwell: time sent (managed by the app)", which records what was sent and hides itself in the ticket, and an organization field, "Meterwell: billing project". Uninstalling removes both; entries already in your time tool stay there. The setup guide at https://greatwork.company/apps/meterwell/docs has more.
