About this app

Move your documentation into Zendesk Guide without rebuilding it by hand. Pick Word files, Markdown, HTML pages, Google Docs or Confluence exports, a CSV, a whole folder or a zip. Quirewell turns each document into a help center article with its headings, lists, tables, code, links and images intact, puts it in the right category and section, and shows you a full preview before it creates anything. Every import can be undone in one click.

Quirewell is built by Great Work LLC. It is not made or endorsed by Zendesk.

Bring the files you already have

  • Word (.docx): headings, formatting, nested lists, tables with merged cells, code, footnotes, links and pictures.
  • Markdown, HTML and plain text, with optional front matter that sets the title, section, labels and language per file.
  • Google Docs and Confluence exports, with the export clutter removed.
  • CSV: one row per article, plus optional section, category, labels and language.
  • Folders and zips: nothing to rename first.

Images and links come with the article

  • Pictures are uploaded to your help center's media library and placed in the article.

  • Links between the documents you import point at the new articles. A missing picture or linked file is named in the preview.

See every article before it is created

  • Folders become categories and sections, or everything goes into one section you pick. Existing ones are reused by name.
  • Translations: files named like refunds.fr.docx, or language folders, become translations of the same article.
  • Duplicates are caught: an article with the same title already in the target section, or a file you imported before, is skipped unless you tick it.
  • A note on every row that needs one. Open any row to see the article as it will look.

Safe by default, undo when you need it

  • Articles are created as drafts unless you choose to publish, with the user segment, permission group and labels you pick. Subscribers are not notified.
  • Undo a whole import from History: its articles are archived (you can restore them from the Guide archive), and the sections, categories and pictures it created are removed once nothing else uses them.

Plan (billed monthly by Zendesk)

Standard: $99 a month per Zendesk account, any number of imports, articles, languages and admins. Every feature is included. 14-day trial; Zendesk asks for a card at install and billing starts when the trial ends unless you uninstall.

Requirements

  • A Zendesk account with a help center (Zendesk Suite, or Support with Guide). Quirewell imports into the help center of your default brand.

  • Admins, or agents who can manage your knowledge base, run the imports. Only admins can save the import history that keeps undo available after the page is closed.

  • Translations need the language turned on in your help center.

  • Up to 500 MB of files per import and 20 MB per picture (the help center limit).

  • Not imported: old .doc files and PDFs (save as .docx first), Word text boxes, charts and page headers. Each is named in the preview.

Your data

Quirewell runs entirely in your browser inside Zendesk. Your files are read in the browser and go only to your own Zendesk account: articles through the help center, pictures into your help center's media library. There is no Great Work server, no account to create and no API token to paste, and every call is made as the signed-in agent, with their permissions. Quirewell keeps no copy of your files or articles, has no export, sends nothing to Great Work or anyone else (not even usage statistics), does no background work and uses no AI. The import history it keeps in its own app setting holds ids only.

Installatie-instructies

  1. Check that your account has a help center (Zendesk Suite, or Support with Guide) and that the languages you want to import are turned on in Guide settings.

  2. Install Quirewell from the Zendesk Marketplace and choose the Standard plan. The 14-day trial starts now; Zendesk asks for a card and starts billing when the trial ends unless you uninstall. Quirewell creates nothing in your account at install.

  3. Optional: in Admin Center > Apps and integrations > Zendesk Support apps > Quirewell, restrict the app to the roles or groups that should run imports. Admins, and agents who can manage the knowledge base, can use it.

  4. Open Quirewell in the left navigation bar. Pick files, a folder or a zip (or drop them on the page), choose the category and section for files at the top level, and whether folders become sections.

  5. Pick the article settings: who can see the articles, the permission group that can edit them, labels, and whether to create drafts (the default).

  6. Click Preview import. Check each row, open any article to see how it will look, untick what you do not want, then click Import.

  7. To take an import back, open History and click Undo. Run imports as an admin so the history is saved and undo stays available after you close the page.

Uninstalling removes Quirewell and its import history setting. Articles, sections and pictures it created stay in your help center.
