About this app

Hector Asset Manager is an asset management platform that organizations use to track their hardware, software, loans and maintenance.

The Hector app brings your Hector assets into the Zendesk ticket sidebar:

  • Search assets by tag, name, serial number or assigned user

  • Link one or more assets to a ticket, and unlink them

  • Open any asset in Hector in one click

  • See each asset's linked tickets on its Tickets tab in Hector

A Hector subscription is required (https://hectorassetmanager.com/prices/). The app connects with an API key generated by a Hector administrator. The key is stored as a secure setting and never reaches the agent's browser.

Data use

To link assets, the app sends Hector the Zendesk subdomain and the ticket's number, subject, status, requester name and last update date. Hector stores them with the linked asset so they can be shown in Hector. The app reads asset data from Hector only: it does not use the Zendesk API and sends no data to any other service. Installatie-instructies

  1. In Hector, go to Settings > Integrations and activate Zendesk.

  2. In Hector, go to Settings > Security > API and generate an API key. Pick a user whose role has API access and can view (and edit, to link) assets.

  3. Fill in the settings below: your Hector API host, your Hector instance name and the API key.
